Mission Beach a real tropical haven

Mission Beach is surrounded by a lush backdrop of World Heritage listed wet tropical rainforest, sunkissed white sandy beaches, close offshore islands including the world renowned Dunk and Bedarra Islands, and the deep cobalt blues of the Coral Sea and Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

Situated at just under 2 hours drive south from Cairns and 2.5 hours north from Townsville, both having International and domestic airports. The scenic drive through rich cane fields, banana plantations and historic towns is a pleasant experience.

While South Mission has a lovely café & gift shop as well as a dine-in/take-away shop a short walk from Taihoa Holiday Units, there are two shopping areas - one at North Mission Beach, the other at Wongaling Beach that can provide for your general needs during your stay. There are a range of services available including: supermarkets, butchers, newsagents, liquor outlets, health food store, bakery, Post Shop, gift shops, clothing stores, hairdressers, TAB, art galleries, dive shop, fishing supplies, hardware store, service station, dentist, physiotherapist and medical centre.

Not in the mood for cooking? Mission Beach boasts many restaurants offering a wide range of cuisine including Thai, Indian, Asian, Pizza, Bistro-style and International... some fully licensed, others BYO. As well, there are a host of take-aways, coffee shops and cafés.

Mission Beach is secluded, yet it is also the perfect base to explore the other wonders of the region; the Great Barrier Reef, Hinchinbrook Island, Dunk Island, Paronella Park at Mena Creek, Atherton Tablelands, Cairns, World Heritage Wet Tropic Rainforest with its unique flora and fauna, and the Gulf Savannah.
